Week 1…Developing a Grateful Heart
YOU BECOME THANKFUL WHEN YOU HABITUALLY PRACTICE GRATITUDE!
WE DEVELOP A GRATEFUL HEART BY…
1) Giving thanks regularly
2) Giving thanks no matter the situation
3) Praise God when all is OK
4) Seeing how bad experiences produce good outcomes
5) Showing gratitude towards others
6) Recognizing the strength gratitude provides
7) Surrendering to Jesus
34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his love endures forever. I Chronicles 16:34
Our thankfulness should come out of our understanding of God’s character.
2 How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save? 3 Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Habakkuk 1:2-3
4 Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted. Habakkuk 1:4
5 “Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told. 6 I am raising up the Babylonians, that ruthless and impetuous people…Habakkuk 1:5-6
8 Because you have plundered many nations, the peoples who are left will plunder you. Habakkuk 2:8
17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habakkuk 3:17-18
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:18
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. 3 For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. Psalm 95:2-3

8) HIS FORGIVENESS
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
1 “I will praise you, Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me.” Isaiah 12:1
2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, Psalm 103:2-3
26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” 27 The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:26-29
