AWANA 2025-26 BEGINS SEPTEMBER 17th
Wednesdays at 6:30PM
through April 29, 2026
We are very excited to once again be offering Awana as a ministry to children at Cross Creek Community Church and our community.
Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Awana programs offer a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community.
As a ministry leader for over 60 years, Awana is making an impact. A national survey found Awana to be as important to our alumni’s spiritual foundation as all other church activities combined. Among alumni who participated in our programs for at least six years, 92.7 percent still attend church at least weekly as adults!
Each week, nearly two million kids ages 2 to 18 participate in Awana. This includes 1.07 million in 102 countries outside of the U.S., the most children that Awana has ever reached internationally.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
Think of Awana this way: it’s like a combination of scripture memorization with the incentives of Scouts, plus the fun and excitement of VBS, all wrapped into one weekly program!
Awana at Cross Creek Community Church is held every Wednesday (September through April) following Dallas Area School District announcements for inclement weather closings. Awana begins promptly at 6:30pm and ends at 8:00pm.
We offer the following programs:
- Puggles: Age 2 (by start of Awana program) through 3 years old
- Cubbies: Age 3 (by start of Awana program) through Pre-K
- Sparks: Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
- T&T: 3rd through 5th Grade
An Awana meeting consists of 4 main parts:
- Handbook Time: All clubs dedicate time to Bible scripture memorization and application using age-appropriate handbooks. Children complete sections in their handbook that they have learned at this time.
- Lesson Time: All clubs are presented with an age-appropriate Bible message.
- Game Time: All of our Awana children practice teamwork and good sportsmanship by competing in fun, organized games.
- Closing: Each club will wrap up the night together with a Closing ceremony in the Sanctuary. We pledge allegiance to the American flag, the Awana flag, and sing the Awana theme song. We end the meeting time with announcements and prayer.
- Puggles will participate in age-appropriate lessons, games, crafts and/or activities in their own classroom. Parents, please pick-up Puggles from their classroom at 7:45.
In order for your child to get the most out of Awana and to have a successful year, they will need your help in completing sections in their handbooks and attending club regularly. Our prayer is that your child will experience spiritual and emotional growth while having fun through their involvement with our Awana program.
It is a pleasure and a privilege to be part of your child’s spiritual development! We look forward to ministering to your child and pray it will be a positive experience for him or her.
What does my child need to bring?
Children receive points every week for bringing the following and for participating in each special night (click to see the Special Nights schedule at the bottom of this page).
- Bible (for Cubbies and Puggles, Bibles are encouraged but not required)
- Uniform
- Awana Handbook
- Dues of $ .50 weekly
Points earned each week accumulate and can be used to “shop” at the Awana Store twice each year.
What are drop-off and pick-up procedures?
Please enter through the church front doors and bring your child to his or her Awana room to check-in:
- Puggles: Toddler Room, yellow room 125
- Cubbies: Room 211, upstairs (PARENTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO STAY)
- Sparks: Gathering Room
- T&T: Old Fellowship Hall
Parents are welcome to attend the Closing in the Sanctuary from 7:45 to 8:00, seated in the Parent Section. At the end of Closing, please bring your Dismissal Card to your child’s club leader to pick up your child.
