Psalm 116:15 15  Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

Christmas is a time of wonders!

Job 37:14 “Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders.

Psalms 119:27 Let me understand the teaching of your precepts;  then I will meditate on your wonders.

The Songs of Christmas “O Come all ye Faithful

WHY?  A Savior who is Christ the Lord has been born to you! To YOU personally!

1.  Come to Jesus!

“O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant! O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem! Come and behold him, born the King of angels.”… O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!

Luke 2:4-5 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

Micah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

2.  The Incarnate Christ!

2 “God from true God, and Light from Light eternal, born of a virgin, to earth he comes! Only-begotten Son of God the Father”: [Refrain]… O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!

Dr. John MacArthur “The most profound truth in the universe in the clearest terms. Easily understood by a child yet beyond the ability of the greatest minds in human history to fathom… The eternal, infinite God became a man… Jesus”

Luke 1:34-35 34  “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35  The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

The hypostatic union is the term used to describe how God the Son, Jesus Christ took on a human nature, yet remained fully God at the same time. Jesus always had been God, but at the incarnation, Jesus took on human flesh – He became a human being. Jesus’ two natures, human and divine, are inseparable. Jesus will forever be the God-man, fully God and fully human, two distinct natures in one Person. Jesus’ humanity and divinity are not mixed, but are united without loss of separate identity.

The union of Christ’s humanity and divinity in one person… JESUS

“Son of Man”– Humanity, 100% Man (used 85 times in N.T.)… Stresses the humanity of Christ.

“Son of God”– Deity, 100% God (used 38 times in N.T.)…      Stresses the divinity of Christ.

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born [humanity], to us a son is given [Deity], and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace…

God in human flesh = Born to die for YOU!

Jesus came into the world…

Luke 2:6-7 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

3.  Everyone Worship Him!

3 Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation, sing, all ye citizens of heav’n above! Glory to God, all glory in the highest: [Refrain]… O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!

Luke 2:8-14 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

Revelation 5:11 11  Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.

GOOD NEWS of great joy to all people

11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord

4.  Spread the Word!

4 Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born this happy morning; Jesus, to thee be all glory giv’n!
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing: [Refrain]… O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!

Luke 2:15-20 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

They heard and believed the angels and went to confirm their message… It is TRUE!

The shepherds greeted the Son of God…

From a feeding trough licked by sheep to an old wooden cross stained with blood…

Jesus, the Savior of the world!

Acts 4:12 12  Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

Come to Jesus!   The Incarnate Christ!    Everyone Worship Him!    Spread the Word!
