        Highly sinful preflood civilization were corrupt morally and spiritually

        Gentle topography, uniform mild climate, no wind, rain, snow, storms

1.  Noah found righteous and obeyed

Genesis 7:1 The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.

Genesis 7:5 And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him.

	Blameless, righteous, believer, genuine faith, a child of God… he obeyed… how about you?
	Noah did all the Lord commanded him to do… we serve Jesus by serving one another.

2.  God’s Longsuffering ended, His Judgment began

1 Peter 3:20 who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,

Genesis 7:11-12 ¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month--on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. ¹² And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

Two Great Water Reservoirs…

·         Fountains of the deep burst forth

o   SLIDE - Subterranean water aquifers… great deep split open, fractured

o   Artesian wells … Immense pressure… Seismic eruptions… Interconnected chain reaction…

o   Some estimates of shooting geysers/water debris as high as 120,000 feet

o   I believe this was the beginning of seismic activity, earthquakes, volcanoes, after shocks…

·         Windows of heaven opened up

o   The frozen vapor canopy became ruptured… Debris, seismic activity… affecting the canopy

o   Torrential rainfall fell 40 days and 40 nights…

3.  Worldwide Flood with Cataclysmic Results

Genesis 7:19-22 ¹⁹ They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. ²⁰ The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. ²¹ Every living thing that moved on the earth perished--birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. ²² Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.

o   If we could bulldoze all dirt into the oceans… water would cover the earth by 2 miles

·         SLIDE – In Indonesia December 26, 2004 a 9.2 earthquake set off a 500 mph Tsunami wave                        killing 300,000 people  (picture 2 days after the Tsunami… imagine 371 days)

SLIDE – Universal Flood NOT Local… (Picture of people who missed the boat)

·         On the authority of God’s Word 2Pet 3:3-7, etc…

·         The Hebrew word “mabbul” – destruction, deluge is always used for Noah’s flood (not “nahar” stream, river, localized)

·         If local flood then people could ‘escape’ to higher ground simply by moving to other areas

·         God’s promise never to send a flood again… (then God lied, there have been many local floods)

·         Jesus accepted historically & universality of Noah’s flood (Mt and Luke)

·         At least 46 / hundreds of Flood traditions found in every ancient civilization cultures… Aborigines, Chinese, Incas, Polynesians, Egyptians, Celts, etc… tell of one family escaped in a floating device (much evidence found throughout the world)

·         Marine fossils found atop mountains… evidence in deserts… (gives evolutionist headaches)

·         Worldwide animal fossil beds… the formation of the Grand Canyon… (more next week)

·         The entire earth dramatically changed… I cannot express this enough…God made major changes!

SLIDE – From NASA, the deepest part of the ocean is 35,802 feet, water temperature of 39 degrees, the             Mariana Trench (in Pacific) has 8 tons of pressure per square inch…

SLIDE – Mt. Everest pushed up - Invert Mt Everest in ocean trench and water still be 1 mile over it!

SLIDE – Mountain ranges made by huge pressures pushing them up (water pressures in oceans, etc)

Psalms 104:6-9 ⁶ You clothed the earth with floods of water, water that covered even the mountains. ⁷ At the sound of your rebuke, the water fled; at the sound of your thunder, it fled away. ⁸ Mountains rose and valleys sank to the levels you decreed. ⁹ Then you set a firm boundary for the seas, so they would never again cover the earth.

SLIDE – One large landmass called a “Super-Continent” broke apart and shifted into our present day             seven continents… Geologist call this “Plate Tectonics” (piece continents together…)

Genesis 8:4 Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

4.  One Life, One Door, One Savior

Genesis 7:16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD shut him in.

·         Final assurance that Noah was in God’s will and protection… are you?

·         Jesus rescues from the waters of judgment and death caused by sin

·         One life – yours… One Door – not many ways to heaven… One Savior – Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for your sin.

Galatians 1:3-5 “…the Lord Jesus Christ, ⁴ who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age…”
