  1. God’s Glory descends on Mt. Sinai, Ex 19:16-20

Exodus 19:16-20 16  On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled. 17  Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18  Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, the whole mountain trembled violently, 19  and the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder. Then Moses  spoke and the voice of God answered him. 20  The LORD descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses went up

  1. Pivotal decision on the “brink” of the Promise Land. Num 13-14

Numbers 13:30-31 30  Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” 31  But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.”

Numbers 14:11,34  The LORD said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the miraculous signs I have performed among them?… 34  For forty years–one year for each of the forty days you explored the land–you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.’
