Jesus, God the Son Pre-Creation Activities…
Having fellowship with His Father. John 17:5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
Creating angels. Job 38:4, 7 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand…while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?
Planning for the Church. Eph 3:9 and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery (Church), which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.
Choosing the elect. Ephes. 1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love
Planning for the future Kingdom. Matthew 25:34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
Planning for the Savior of the world. 1 Peter 1:18-20 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.
Jesus, God the Son came into the world FOR YOU…
Galatians 4:4-5 4 But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5 to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.
Luke 1:34-35 34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
John 10:30 I and the Father are one.” John 14:9 “… anyone who has seen me has seen the Father”
Jesus, God the Son sacrificially died FOR YOU…
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Matthew 26:28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Luke 22:19-20 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
The Bread represents Christ’s body – perfect, sinless, sin bearer
1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
The Cup represents Christ’s blood – sacrificial, atoning death
Romans 3:25a “God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood…” Hebrews 9:22b “…without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”
The Lord’s Supper is a Time “FOR YOU”…
To Prepare 1 Corinthians 11:28-30 28 A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.
To Praise 1 Corinthians 11:23-24a 23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks…”
To Ponder 1 Corinthians 11:24b-25 “… he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
To Proclaim 1 Corinthians 11:26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
