“Living in an Upside-Down World”

Community, part 6

Two overarching realities…

God’s unseen perfect eternity and fallen mankind on earth.

Background… The birth of the church (Acts 1-2)

Doing Church Together…

Acts 2:40-47 40  With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41  Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. 42  They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43  Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44  All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45  Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47  praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

  1. Be fostering a commitment to _____________.

John 14:6 6  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

  1. Be ______________ in large and small gatherings.

Hebrews 10:25 25  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

III.    Be demonstrating an atmosphere of ____________.

John 13:34-35 34  “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

  1. Be flavored with _________________ community.

Ephesians 4:12-13, 15-16 12  [Pastors/teachers] to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ [the Church] may be built up 13  until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 15  … speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16  From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (accomplished through the ministry of “one another”)

God works Powerfully as we LIVE Victoriously!
