“Friend Day Dinner”

I sat down to write a letter to Bonnie Elston , dear.

To thank her for the work she does for “Friend Day”, year by year.

But then I thought, why not a poem to talk about her gift.

And let you know how much she does to give our church a lift.

She packs her car with stuff she needs to make things look just right.

There’s crates and baskets and bleach and tape, the car is quite a sight.

But these are things she needs to have, to get everything in shape.

Then she gets to the church, and her energy flies, she really takes the cake!!

The people come on friend day and just walk down the stairs.

Everything is in its place, the food, the tables, and the chairs.

But did you notice that lady with the chef’s hat on her head?

She’s the one who planned it all so “you all” could be fed.

So Bonnie, I just want to thank you for all you do at church.

And please don’t ever resign your job, and leave us in the lurch!

Some day you will get your due and a truly sure reward.

It’s when you reach your heavenly home, and a “well done” from the Lord.
