“Getting Control” Review

‘Building My Life’ Part 10 of 10

Romans 13:11-12 ¹¹ And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. ¹² The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

1.    I Get Control of My TIME by:

Capturing Every Moment for Christ

Psalms 39:4 “LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered, and that my life is fleeing away”.

Ephesians 5:15-17 ¹⁵ Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, ¹⁶ making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.

2.    I Get Control of My MIND by:

Battling to Take Every Thought Captive

Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ³ For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. ⁴ The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. ⁵ We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

3.    I Get Control of My FINANCES by:

Investing in Heaven’s Eternal Bank

Matthew 6:20a But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

4.    I Get Control of My NEW LIFE by:

Actively Serving in the Body of Christ

Matthew 16:18b “…I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”

Ephesians 4:16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

5.    I Get Control of GOD’S WORD by:

Believing and Obeying God’s Revelation

(Hear – Read – Study – Memorize – Meditate – Apply)

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, ¹⁷ so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Joshua 1:8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

6.    I Get Control of My HABITS by:

Feeding the Spirit while Starving the Flesh

Romans 7:23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.

Romans 12:1-2 ¹ Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. ² Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

7.    I Get Control of My SPIRITUALITY by:

Living Supernaturally in Submission to Christ

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 ²¹ Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, ²² set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

8.    I Get Control of My PRAYERS I by:

Following the Example of Christ

Matthew 6:9-13 “This, then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…”

Psalms 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

9.    I Get Control of My PRAYERS II by:

Choosing to Meet God’s Requirements

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
